Biography | Jessica Visnovits (b. 2000) is an American painter from Carson City, Nevada. Her academic background in history as well as her interest in literature inform the subject matter of her art. She draws inspiration from the medieval and late modern periods of Europe and the idiosyncratic culture and history of her home state. After taking a break to focus on her studies, she is returning to her artistic practice with a new direction.
Artist Statement | As a narrative artist, my paintings follow fictional characters from my three original series: Zita di Pagolo (When Soothed Not, Thou Wilt Seethe); Judith Cario and Arturo Litham (Las Vegas Romances); and Peter Salt, Rozamund, and Nikolas Gaunt (Petrine).
Through my works, I explore the intersection of contemporary and historical personhood, and I particularly emphasize psychological themes and the continuity of human experience across time.
